基本のレールです。
長さは216mmで、曲線レールでできる円の半径と等しいです。
また、ほとんどの情景部品は直線レールと同じ長さになっています。
現行の直線レールは、しなやかで折れにくいポリプロピレン製です。
Very basic and essential rail.
It’s 216mm (8.5″) long which is equal to the radius of curve rail.
Most scenery parts are designed to be the same length as a straight rail.
The current product is made of polypropylene so pretty tough.

基本のレールですが、意外と数はそれほど必要ではありません。
次のレイアウトを見てみましょう。
It’s basic rail, however you probably don’t need as many straight rails as you might anticipate.
Let’s look at the following tracks.

このように、曲線レールやブロック橋脚にくらべると、直線レールは案外少なくてすむことがわかります。
さらに、直線レール部分を駅や踏切で置き換えると使う数はもっと減ります。
初めのうちは6~8本もあれば十分で、ブロック橋脚や曲線レールが増えるにつれて追加すればよいでしょう。
As you see above, smaller number of straight rails will be sufficient compared to curve rails and pier blocks.
On top of that, you can replace those straight rails with scenery parts.
It would be sufficient to have 6~8 straight rails at the beginning. Add just you need as you get more pier blocks and curve rails.

割合としては、ブロック橋脚12個(2セット)、曲線レール8本(2セット)、直線レールを4本(1セット)くらいではないかと思います。
最終的に14~20本もあれば、たいていのことはできるでしょう。
The proportion would be 1 package (4pcs) of straight rails per 2 packages (12pcs) of pier blocks and/or 2 packages (8pcs) of curve rails.
Ultimately 14~20 straight rails will be enough to build your own tracks.

使いかたのコツ (Tips for Use)

1. 情景は最後に直線レールと置きかえる (Replace straight rails with scenery parts after building a track)

レイアウトを組むときは、はじめは情景部品を使わずに作り、後で直線レールの部分と置きかえるようにするとやりやすいです。
When you build a track, it will make the thing easier: build without scenery parts first, then replace straight rails with scenery parts later.

2. ブロック橋脚にのせるときは裏 (Use back side up on a block pier)

直線レールには表裏がありませんが、よく見ると片面には成形時のものと思われる点々があります。
ここでは、この点々のない面を表、点々のある面を裏と呼ぶことにします。
Straight rail is reversible and there are spots on one side which are probably due to the production process.
In this website, we call the side with no spots “front" and the side with spots “back."

ブロック橋脚に直線レールをのせるとき、表を上にすると、凹側のつなぎ目の点々と橋脚の突起が干渉して、少しだけ真ん中からずれてしまいます。
When you put the straight rails on a block pier with their front side up, the spots at the joint contact the protrusions at the edge of pier block, and the rail joint cannot come exactly at the center.

そこで、裏を上にして橋脚にのせればピッタリ真ん中に合わせられるようになります。
It will be solved by using the back side up, then.

入り組んだ立体レイアウトを組み立てるときは、覚えておくといいかもしれません。
Though usually you don’t need to care, it could be active when you build a complicated multi-level track.
